My Gold Stars

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Research has shown that people who track their behaviors are more likely to make (or break) their habits. When smokers are trying to quit, for example, simply telling them to carry a piece of paper and make a check-mark every time before they smoke results in them smoking a decreased number of cigarettes per day. Tracking habits make us more aware of and accountable for our behaviors. Here I stay accountable for my behaviors with gold stars (or black check marks).

Oh, I like this. I feel like I should do one for MY running. I really, really need to do it 3 times a week. I do it maybe 3 times/month. Ugh.
